Central Oregon Pediatric Associates: An Origin Story

Dr. Mary Brown planted a seed of hope and safety for families when she opened a solo pediatric practice in Central Oregon in 1975. A year later, Dr. John Chunn joined her in a small building on 3rd Street, where they shared a very small lobby and 3 exam rooms. They forged a formal partnership and COPA was born. By the early ‘80s, COPA had partnered with some local pediatric specialists to build what is today COPA’s East Bend Clinic. Through generations, COPA has witnessed countless milestones, supported patient dreams, partnered with families through the challenging times, and has become a pillar of the community in healthcare and beyond.

Patient and Family Advisory Board

Central Oregon Pediatric Patient and Family Quality Advisory Board is a partnership of patients, parents, family members, and professionals working together to ensure we offer the highest level of responsiveness to the unique needs of every child and their families in all areas of pediatric care throughout their experience with Central Oregon Pediatric Associates.

Our commitment is to continually enhance our family-centered approach to communication and medical care. We seek your partnership to ensure that this vision is realized. We firmly believe that the voices of patients and their families should be at the forefront of our decision-making processes, guiding us to better serve our community's unique needs.

The Patient and Family Quality Advisory Board will meet four times a year for an hour each session. We plan these meetings to be as convenient as possible for families, so days and times will rotate. We’re asking members of the Board to attend at least 50% of the scheduled meetings. If you can’t attend, we’ll make every effort to ensure your voice is heard.

For more information, please contact our Manager of Population Health, Chelsea Miller, at cmiller@copakids.com to receive the latest information about this important avenue for community feedback. Thank you for helping us provide the highest level of responsiveness to the needs of the children and families in our region. We look forward to learning from you.
