Central Oregon Pediatric Associates: An Origin Story

Dr. Mary Brown planted a seed of hope and safety for families when she opened a solo pediatric practice in Central Oregon in 1975. A year later, Dr. John Chunn joined her in a small building on 3rd Street, where they shared a very small lobby and 3 exam rooms. They forged a formal partnership and COPA was born. By the early ‘80s, COPA had partnered with some local pediatric specialists to build what is today COPA’s East Bend Clinic. Through generations, COPA has witnessed countless milestones, supported patient dreams, partnered with families through the challenging times, and has become a pillar of the community in healthcare and beyond.
