Allergist and Immunologist
COPA Pediatric Allergist and Immunologist
Do allergies or immune system concerns have you worried about your child's health? At COPA, we understand these issues can be frustrating and disruptive. That's why we offer in-house consultations with a dedicated immunologist. Our specialist works closely with your child's pediatrician to provide expert diagnosis, treatment plans, and ongoing management for allergies, asthma, eczema, and other immune system conditions.
When You Should See an Allergist / Immunologist
If your child experiences frequent allergy symptoms like sneezing, rashes, or trouble breathing, or if you have concerns about their immune system response to illnesses, an immunologist can provide expert guidance. Explore common reasons to seek specialized care to help you determine if an immunology or allergy consultation is the right next step for your child's health.
Food allergies or skin conditions
If your child experiences reactions after eating certain foods, an allergist can help identify the culprit and create a safe management plan. Additionally, eczema, a chronic itchy rash, can be linked to allergies and benefit from an allergist's expertise.
Frequent infections
If your child seems to get sick more often than others, an immunologist can assess their immune system function and recommend strategies to boost it.
Family history of allergies or immune system disorders
If allergies or immune system problems run in your family, a consultation can be helpful for early detection and management.
What to Expect
During your child's appointment with COPA's allergist/immunologist, expect a comprehensive evaluation. This may include a review of your child's medical history, a physical exam, and potentially allergy testing. Our specialist will work with you and your child's pediatrician to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their needs. This plan could involve medication, allergy avoidance strategies, or other interventions to effectively manage their condition and improve their quality of life.
What types of allergy testing are available?
The specific type of allergy testing recommended will depend on your child's symptoms and the suspected allergen(s). Some common tests include:
-
- Skin prick test: A small amount of the suspected allergen is pricked onto the skin to see if it triggers a reaction.
- Blood test: This measures the amount of specific antibodies in your child's blood that are associated with allergies.
How long will the appointment take?
The appointment length can vary depending on the complexity of your child's case. However, the initial consultation should last approximately 45-60 minutes.
What are the next steps?
Depending on your child’s diagnosis, your provider will discuss a detailed care plan with you, including the types of visits and treatments you can expect in the future. Your child’s well-being and quality of life are our top priorities!

I am thrilled to return to my home state of Oregon to pursue my passion as a Pediatric Allergist and Clinical Immunologist in Central Oregon and beyond. I specialize in caring for both children and adults with allergic and immunologic conditions including disorders of the airway. I enjoy caring for patients with common diseases such as food allergies, asthma, eczema, drug allergy, hives and seasonal allergies.
It’s of utmost importance to me as a pediatrician to celebrate with families when their child thrives, and we journey together through challenging times. I am grateful for the training and mentorship I received at Duke University as a trainee and faculty member, where I received specialized training in disorders of the immune system and the management of recurrent infections. This experience included the delicate transition of pediatric patients into adulthood through long-term relationships. I feel fortunate that families entrust their children to my care, and I love being a part of their team.
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy anything outside with my husband, young son, and German Shorthaired Pointer, Statler. We especially enjoy visits with my family in Sisters, OR, and exploring the Bend food and coffee scene!
